In the conference, Simona Petrisor, Managing Counsel with Bondoc si Asociatii, gave a presentation on the topic ‘Restructuring of Banking Activities through Business Transfer.’
Simona underlined the fact that: ‘Bank restructuring operations have become increasingly frequent. However, these continue to remain complex operations, which require the involvement of multi-disciplinary and highly experienced lawyer teams. Some of the considerations leading to such operations consist not only of an increasing competitiveness but also of requirements from authorities in the competition area. Such restructuring activities, already initiated in the market, will be definitely accelerated by the regulatory reforms that are under progress at a European level.’
The conference took place in Sibiu, between 27 and 31 May 2014, and was attended by a large number of representatives of the National Bank of Romania, credit institutions of Romania, the European Central Bank and other central banks: the Federal Reserve Bank of New York, the South African Reserve Bank, the Reserve Bank of India, Deutsche Bundesbank, Banca dˈItalia, Banco de Espana, the Central Bank of Luxembourg, the National Bank of Bulgaria, and the Central Bank of Turkey, as well as by numerous representatives of the main banks acting in the Romanian market. At the same time, personalities of the Romanian and international academic community attended the conference.
