Viorel Dinu, partner at Bondoc si Asociatii Law firm and head of the litigation practice, is participating in London International Disputes Week 2022, an event through which the capital city of the common law system brings together litigation and arbitration practitioners from across a variety of jurisdictions, dedicated experts and specialists, to assert the status and advantages of the British justice system in a global context, as well as to debate the legal practitioner’ problems and challenges in today’s world.
This year, the theme of debate – ” Dispute Resolution – Global, Sustainable, Ethical?” – covers several sessions on issues specific to certain regions or jurisdictions, but also more general matters encountered by the current litigation practice, highly topical for most courts of justice and practitioners.
“The variety and topicality of the talking points under debate are outstanding, with discussions focusing on the significant challenges faced by litigation lawyers and their advisory colleagues. How do we prepare the litigation lawyer for future litigation? Will there still be files in paper format, or will everything be digitalized as is already common (although not always) in the English courts? Can we apply the traditional rules and principles of contracts, either from the common law system or from the civil law system to digital contracts and blockchain technology? Or to digital assets moving in the virtual space in several minutes? What is the applicable law and the court of competent jurisdiction to settle the disputes over what is happening in the digital space from a legal viewpoint? These are just some of the extremely interesting and major topics addressed in yesterday’s session, driving to reflection and action.”
The events under the auspices of LIDW 2022 continue today, 12 May 2022, with the Global Arbitration Review, dedicated to international arbitration and to discussing how this alternative method of dispute resolution must respond to our present-day world.
